How to structure a plumbing quote

Plumbers generally quote a house as a lump sum for each part of the work rather than itemising every fitting. Grouping the quote under clear headings — connections, rough-in, fit-off, stormwater and compliance — makes the scope plain to the client while keeping your detailed pricing your own.

Connections and drainage

The water meter, the sewer connection at the boundary, the in-slab DWV pipework and floor wastes that go in before the slab is poured.

Water and gas rough-in

In-slab hot and cold water, pressure-limiting and tempering valves, isolation to each wet area, and the gas line with isolation valves to each appliance.

Fixtures and fit-off

The hot water unit, tapware, sanitary fixtures and connections to appliances such as the dishwasher and washing machine, carried out once linings and tiling are complete.

Stormwater

Pits, downpipe connections, any required on-site detention, subsoil drains and the connection to the council stormwater system.

Inspections and compliance

The rough-in pre-cover inspection before the slab or linings close up, the gas pressure test, the final inspection and the compliance certificate issued on completion.
