How to structure a carpentry quote
Carpenters generally quote a frame as a lump sum for each part of the build rather than pricing every stick of timber. Grouping the quote under clear headings — wall and floor framing, roof, eaves, and the second-fix work — shows the builder exactly what is covered while keeping your pricing your own.
Wall and floor framing
Set-out, plates, studs, lintels and bracing, plus the floor joists, bearers and structural flooring where the frame is suspended.
Roof, ceiling and eaves
Truss supply and install, tie-downs, ceiling joists and hanging beams, then the eaves, fascia and barge framing.
Stairs, decks and pergolas
Any stair, landing, deck or pergola framing, which is easy to leave out of a frame-only price.
Second fix and blocking
Architraves, skirtings, door hanging, and the blocking behind plasterboard for cabinets, vanities and fixtures — booked after the pre-line inspection.
